Last week’s loss was really hard to take!
Sometimes you put so much effort and hard work into your craft, but the results simply do not tell the whole story.
The endless days of preparation, film watching, notes, and game planning make me think that we work so much to prepare for the test that it is like we are performing tedious homework assignments. More times than not, however, it is how you prepare for the test that determines whether you pass your test on Sunday. In the NFL, the grade that you receive appears in your team’s record- wins and losses determine if you pass or fail.
This past week against Carolina, we failed. We simply did not pass our test.
That is why football is a total team sport- because one person’s performance on one side of the ball doesn’t always guarantee a victory for the team. Football takes all eleven of us working as one unit for a common goal.
The team that works best together is usually the winner in the NFL.
So, we need to go back to the drawing board. We have to push forward and get ready for a long trip.
We have an enormous amount of talent on this team. We are not far from where we want to be as a complete unit. Rome was not built in a day, but the talent that we have and continue to bring in is going to make us a better football team.
What a way to get ready to go to Miami! Nobody is giving us a chance to win. I love the underdog role because nobody is going to pick us as a favorite. One of my weekly goals is to prove everyone wrong. We are very close to being a great team in this league.
